Funding allows eligible schools to book Champions programmes for 50% off

Northampton Saints Foundation is excited to announce that it has received funding from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

This funding will enable 16 classes within eight qualifying schools to participate in the Foundation’s Champions programmes, a curriculum-based series, running at a 50% discount, which are designed to inspire and educate students through the values and power of rugby.

Schools can choose from the following five themed programmes, which run for five weeks.

Tackling Health
Tackling Character
Tackling Heritage
Tackling Numeracy
Tackling Reading

Each programme is designed to support Sports Premium objectives, promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for young learners. Tailored for Key Stage 2 students, it can be adapted for various year groups, either individually or in combined classes.

Foundation education officers and Northampton Saints community rugby coaches, work with two classes each week, alternating between a one-hour theory lesson and a one-hour rugby session.

Liam Welch, Education Lead at Northampton Saints Foundation said "We are grateful to receive the funding from IICF as thanks to them, more schools are able to access our Champions programmes. Each of the five programmes are fantastic for helping children to build their confidence, develop new skills and prepare them for future success. Together with Northampton Saints Community team we are able to make a difference with the long term aim of helping to reduce the risk of exclusion, or disengagement from education".

Thank you to Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) who helps communities and changes lives by uniting the industry through grants, volunteers and leadership.
