Tackling Heritage

Northampton Saints, a club rich in heritage, proudly presents our new five-week Tackling Heritage Programme. This engaging and interactive series explores both local and global heritage, with a strong focus on historical connections to the World Wars.

Delivered over five weeks, each session includes one hour of classroom learning led by our Foundation education staff, paired with a one-hour practical rugby session, featuring heritage themes, conducted by the Northampton Saints Community Coaching Team. With a total of 10 hours of content, this programme is ideal for Key Stage 2 students and is conveniently conducted within your school. For optimal engagement, we request a minimum of two classes to participate, allowing our team to rotate sessions seamlessly.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • The History of Northampton Saints – Discover the legacy and heritage of our club.
  • Edgar Mobbs & The Mobbs’ Own – A look at local history and WWI through the story of Edgar Mobbs.
  • Frank Anderson – Insights into Black history and significant contributions within our community.
  • Key Players in Saints’ History – A tribute to iconic Saints players who shaped the club.
  • Arthur ‘Freddie’ Blakiston – Explore WWI history and participate in an adapted version of the Blakiston Challenge.
